well if your like me and live in a small town great but if you happen to take the lady say to dinner at pier 39 HOLY CRUDD I'm lost picked up this beauty for 114.00 shipped typed in several locations and with ease got there.The map is a bit non updated ,Ca 99 by merced shows freeway off a little but other than that A+++ i recommend this to anyone who is like me LOST,And thinking of getting another for my LADY

Garmin's nüvi 2x5 models improveupon their 200-series predecessors by adding top-of-the-line features such as FM traffic updates or MSN Direct content capability to an entry-level line. But Garmin is also introducing some significant improvements with this new series, like a predictive technology that provides faster satellite lock, a redesigned screen with more information, terrain maps, and an exciting new photo navigation feature. The 205W also offers a wide 4.3-inch (diagonal) screen that displays 70% more of the road around you.
The nüvi 2x5 models sport the slim design that Garmin introduced with the 200-series last year, so they all fit comfortably in your pocket or purse, and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that makes them convenient for navigation by car or foot.All of the models include useful travel tools like a JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, calculator and more.
Important Product Information: This device features a "screen lock" feature. This is a standard feature on all nüvi 2x5 and 7x5 Garmin units. If you slide the "Power" key to the right, it will lock the screen and prevent any accidental touches. Once the screen lock feature is engaged, the screen will go black/gray after about 15 seconds to save power on the device. To unlock the screen, just slide the "Power" key to the center position. This feature is really targeted for "Pedestrian" mode so that a user can put the device in his or her pocket/purse and quickly unlock the screen instead of powering on/off continuously. HotFix™ – aka: Satellite Ephemeris Data Prediction
 | Your GPS device locks onto transmissions from a dedicated network of Satellites in order to determine its position. Until the device gets a "lock" on three satellites, it can't effectively navigate, so decreasing the time it takes for your device to get "satellite lock" is always a goal of GPS manufacturers. I don't often write reviews but must say this Garmin nuvi 205W is a huge disappointment. First, it doesn't come with a manual. I returned one unit only to receive another without a manual. Garmin sent me some cheap copy machine copy of the manual- very poor. The manual makes reference to plugging your computer into the mini-USB cable to update it's software. Trouble is the cable has a auto accessory power plug on one end and my computer doesn't have a port for that. Go figure. The menu on the 205w is lame. Not a good designed menu. Too much using the back button. Also, it hasn't found 1/2 the addresses I've entered. The addresses all show up on Mapquest. I have a built in GPS in my Honda and appreciate it more after using this poorly package and finished unit.

Bought this navigator and having so much fun using it - have the voice on British English for fun - easy to use - easy to read - wish it was a tad bigger - other than that great for the price - no complaints.

I purchased this item for a recent trip that I had to Austin Texas. I purchased it a week before my trip to test it out in my area of Southern California. I had good reviews from friends and read these reviews on this product on here. Which helped me purchase this item with confidence. Testing it locally, I noticed it does not recognize shortcuts or avoid freeways. I would test this unit going to work and back and weekend driving. This unit would have me going around in circles when the store was right in front of me and I could turn left or park to the right.
When I took it to Austin, TX. I was confident I was going to be able to plot the address of our hotel and not get lost. Damn unit kept on getting us lost and going in circles. I finally had to stop by and access a wifi spot and fire up my mac book pro and plot the address using GOOGLE MAPS. I was way better off using a paper map or print out using my laptop. Than using this item. This had really soured me on GPS Units. I may get a Magellan or TomTom in the far future but just returned it for a full refund.
Only advice, when traveling to other states make sure to stop by AAA if your a member and get maps and sometimes the local car rental places will give you a local map for free or at a price. Those items are still cheaper and reliable than this. Keeping in mind you know how to read maps. WHich I can.

Purchased this as a birthday gift. Third Garmin I have purchased, all are top quality with no problems. Wouldn't buy anything else but a Garmin.
